start)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saintlukeskc.org\/medical-laboratory-science-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St. Luke\u2019s Medical Center<\/a>\u00a0(June and January starts available)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/academics\/programs\/mls\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Nebraska Medical Center<\/a>\u00a0in partnership with Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO (June start)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.universityhealthkc.org\/professional-education\/medical-laboratory-science-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University Health Truman Medical Center<\/a>\u00a0(June start)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Complete and submit your application(s) immediately prior to the start of your Junior year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications for June start programs are due by August 1st.<\/li>\n<li>Applications for January start at St. Luke\u2019s are due by May 1st.<\/li>\n<li>Applications for Truman can begin in November for June start date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After completing the program, students are eligible to take board certification exams from either or both of these certifying agencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naacls.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ascp.org\/content\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In order to apply for clinical training you will need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum GPA of 2.5<\/li>\n<li>2-3 letters of reference<\/li>\n<li>Completed all on-campus coursework prior to beginning your clinical training<\/li>\n<li>Complete your application(s) and submit them by August 1 during the summer prior to the start of your Junior year<\/li>\n<li>It is also preferred that you have some relevant laboratory experience, ideally in a clinical setting.<\/li>\n<li>You will need to complete a personal interview (by invitation) with the site. These generally take place during September and October.<\/li>\n<li>Decisions are generally made by the end of November.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s unique about the\u00a0<em>University of Nebraska Medical Center<\/em>\u00a0clinical affiliation?<\/strong><br \/>\nOur affiliation with UNMC is unique in that students attend a residential 10-week clinical training session on the UNMC campus during the summer of their clinical phase.
