Minor in Criminal Justice

A Minor in Criminal Justice is a good choice if you are majoring in another discipline but you are interested in a career in criminal justice. All criminal justice requirements for a minor can be met with online courses, although most of those online courses may also be taken in a traditional classroom setting if that is preferred. Students with a Minor in Criminal Justice have several choices upon graduation. They may choose a graduate degree to further their study in an area of interest. Our department offers a Masters in Applied Science in Forensic Investigations, which would be open to any student who qualifies. Students may also choose to go to the Law Enforcement Academy. If they pass their POST exam students are then qualified to become police officers in Missouri and other states. There are also jobs in the field which would require no additional education of a student with a bachelor’s degree and a minor in criminal justice, including a police officer and correction officer. Finally, the Minor may be combined with another Minor to  complete a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies (BGS).
