The B.S. Natural Science/Chemistry degree with an option in Secondary Education designed to prepare the next generation of high school chemistry teachers for the midwest region and beyond.
By completing the program and successfully passing the Missouri teacher certification exam, you will meet all Missouri Department of Secondary and Elementary Education requirements for high school chemistry teachers. Students have an option to meet Unified Science requirements by completing both physical geology, meterology and 4 additional credits of biology.
Program admission and graduation standards are very high. An overall GPA of 2.75 and a GPA of 3.0 in chemistry are required for admission to the Teacher Education program.
MWSU graduates can be found in classrooms throughout the region and beyond. MWSU graduates are teaching in the St. Joseph School District, Lawson, Oak Grove, West Platte, Doss High School (KY), and many more.
