How do you spend your Sunday afternoons during football season? Greg Zuerlein spends his as a placekicker for the Los Angeles Rams. Greg, or “Greg the Leg” as he is often called, became a Griffon when the University of Nebraska-Omaha shuttered its football program in 2010.
As a Griffon, Greg, or “Legatron,” hit 21 straight field goals, including nine that were over 50 yards and two that were 58 yards. He was also nine for nine on field goals of 50 yards or more, which had never been done before in the NCAA at any level.
Greg, a business major, was a sixth-round draft pick for the Rams in 2012.
“Every one of the guys in the locker room and the coaches made me feel at home,” Greg said of his time as a Griffon.
