Digital Animation

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Animation degree at Missouri Western State University reflects the convergence of computers and art, and emphasizes working with 2D and 3D graphics in a computer-based, graphics-intensive environment.

Our program is designed to create a well-rounded artist through traditional hand-drawn skills to 3D animation.

The degree provides an art student the opportunity to become proficient in skills that are useful for producing a wide range of products for cinema, gaming, science and medical visualization, broadcast television and interactive media.

We have the latest in industry animation and gaming software, including UNITY game engine, UNREAL game engine, Autodesk Maya and Mudbox, Blender, Cinema 4d, and Zbrush Core. We have the latest in design Adobe Creative Cloud Collection, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Animate (Flash), Premiere Pro and After Effects.

We have one PC and Macintosh Computer Art labs.

One lab is equipped with:

  • 20 PC computers with 22 inch monitors,
  • 15 CINTIQs monitors,
  • 1 large bed scanner,
  • 1 laser printer,
  • Projection screen.

Our second lab is equipped with:

  • 20 iMac computers,
  • 5 Epson large format inkjet printers,
  • 2 Microtec large bed scanners,
  • 1 laser printer,
  • Projection screen
