Eric Fuson is an instructor in the foundations program of the art department. After receiving his B.A. from Missouri Western State University he began teaching here in 1990. Eric currently teaches drawing, two-dimensional design, and three-dimensional design.
A lifelong resident of St. Joseph and a graduate of Missouri Western State University Eric focuses on helping the new student find a rich and rewarding college experience, by accentuating a variety of opportunities for artistic appreciation and expression that lie within the University and the surrounding community.
As a business owner and artist who exhibited nationally he draws from these experiences and brings a real life connection to the classroom assignment and its future application.
A background in photography, graphic design, drawing, jewelry, and sculpture are evident throughout his work. Presently, Eric is working in wire, as he challenges the concept of drawing with a three-dimensional line. Eric’s continual exploration across media becomes a method by which he understands and relates to a new student, and their search for personal expression.
“Every semester I look forward to engaging my students and guiding them as they explore the possibilities in art. I find it very rewarding to be a part of students development into professional artists.” Eric Fuson
