Congratulations go out to Danny Janovec,  Justin Rhodes, Matt White and Truman Vasco for being awarded an achievement award in computer animation for their animation work on the opera Magic Flute. Digital Animation students created backdrop illustrations and animations that were projected on a 40-foot wide screen at the back of the stage for the opera. In some cases, the animation came to life – the dragon, for example, begins its entrance on screen before emerging as a puppet on stage. It was shown in the Potter Hall Theater on Nov. 1 and 2 and at 3 p.m. Nov. 3 2013.

The students were awarded this achievement award from the Kennedy Center American College Theater (KCACTF) which is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States. The KCACTF has grown into a network of more than 600 academic institutions throughout the country, where theater departments and student artists showcase their work and receive outside assessment by KCACTF respondents.
