Phil Shafer, Visiting Artist April 1st

griffonPhil Shafer is a graphic artist living and working in Kansas City. Originally from Brooklyn NY, Shafer moved to KC as a youth and attended the Kansas City Art Institute to study photography and video. After graduating in 2000, Shafer has worked as a graphic designer for a research lab at the KU Med Center as well as designing for his own free lance creative company, Sike Style Industries. Shafer is involved in the KC hip-hop and art scene, curating shows for Urban Culture Project and the Kultured Chameleon Gallery and Dj-ing on the weekends.

Shafer is an artist, thinker and a hustler of culture.

He will be giving a lecture Monday, April 1st on the Missouri Western State University campus in Popplewell 205. Shafer will share his insights on making public art and self promotion you don’t have to be ashamed of.
