Fountain City Brass Band (America’s #1 ranked British-style Brass Band) will perform ‘Extreme Makeover: The Music of Johan de Meij’ at the Missouri Theater. This event will feature world-renowned conductor and composer Johan de Meij and Grammy-nominated trombonist Marshall Gilkes.
The event is sponsored in part by the Missouri Western Arts Society.
Potential woodwind, brass, and/or percussion students can participate in masterclasses and rehearsals with Missouri Western faculty and Fountain City Brass Band members. They will also have the chance to join Fountain City Brass Band on stage during the concert to perform a movement of Johan’s Symphony No. 1, Lord of the Rings, and a fun piece with Marshall, conducted by the composer himself.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
12:30 PM: Check-in at Missouri Western State University – Potter Hall Lobby
1-3:30 PM: Rehearsals and Masterclasses
6-7 PM: Dress Rehearsal at Missouri Theater with Johan de Meij, Marshall Gilkes, and Fountain City Brass Band
7:30 PM: Concert at Missouri Theater
