{"id":9958,"date":"2021-11-01T01:00:39","date_gmt":"2021-11-01T06:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/admissions\/?p=9958"},"modified":"2021-10-29T15:25:48","modified_gmt":"2021-10-29T20:25:48","slug":"updated-campus-mask-policy-encouraged-not-required","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/admissions\/2021\/11\/01\/updated-campus-mask-policy-encouraged-not-required\/","title":{"rendered":"Updated campus mask policy \u2013 encouraged not required"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Effective Friday, Oct. 15, face coverings are encouraged but no longer required in all indoor public spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This University masking policy change reflects several indicators reviewed by the COVID-19 Response Team every week and is in line with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/about-face-coverings.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CDC guidance on masks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For eight straight weeks, we\u2019ve seen both the positivity rates and the number of positive cases decline for Buchanan county. Additionally, we\u2019ve seen the same decreasing trend in the local hospitalization rates. We have also seen a decline in cases on campus, and in fact we have had zero active COVID-19 cases for more than a week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Through the Max the Vax incentive program, 29 percent of students and 85 percent of employees have reported vaccinations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The COVID-19 Response Team will continue to meet weekly to review data and adjust mitigation strategies, including the campus face-covering policy, as warranted.
