International Student

Each year, Missouri Western welcomes new students from around the world to our campus and community. The International Admissions page was designed to step you through the admissions process. We also encourage you to visit the International Student Services page, which will give you an in-depth look at everything you'll need to make your transition to Missouri Western as streamline as possible.
Important Deadlines
Must receive all required documents for admission by the dates listed below.

PRIORITY DEADLINES:
  • Fall 2015 (August) - May 15*
  • Spring 2016 (January) - October 1*
  • *Do no hesitate to submit an application after these priority application deadlines.

    Language Requirements
    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Students must complete the Test of English Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 61 on the Internet Based Test, 500 on the written, or 5.5 (undergrad) / 6.0 (graduate) on the International English Language Test System (IELTS). We also accept ACT or SAT results for students who choose to not complete the TOEFL or IELTS exam. Official results must be sent directly from the organization to Missouri Western.

    WAIVERS:
    The Demonstration of English Proficiency requirement is waived in cases where applicants have earned a degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or have earned at least 24 regular semester hours of university credit from an accredited U.S. college or university. If you are citizen of a country where English is the official language, this requirement may be waived. Contact the Office of Admissions for more info: cwashburn@missouriwestern.edu

    Intensive English Program
    The Intensive English Program at Missouri Western State University has been developed to offer our international students a strong foundation in the English language. This foundation will enable our international students to succeed in their chosen academic fields and become more comfortable living in the community.

    International Baccalaureate (IB) Scholarships
    IB CERTIFICATE SCHOLARSHIP:
    International Baccalaureate (IB) Certificate Scholarships are awarded to first-time freshmen who have successfully completed two IB certificates. The scholarship is worth an amount up to $2,600 per year. The student must maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA for renewal. This scholarship may not be combined with other Gold Level Scholarships.
    Application Deadline: Must be admitted to the University prior to July 1st
    Application Procedures: Awarded Automatically to Qualified Students

    IB DIPLOMA SCHOLARSHIP: 
    International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Scholarships are awarded to first-time freshmen who have successfully completed the IB Diploma. The scholarship is worth an amount up to $3,600 per year. The student must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA for renewal. This scholarship may not be combined with other Gold Level Scholarships.
    Application Deadline: Must be admitted to the University prior to July 1st
    Application Procedures: Awarded Automatically to Qualified Students

    International Baccalaureate (IB) Diplomas
    IB DIPLOMAS & ACCEPTED CREDIT:
    Missouri Western recognizes the International Baccalaureate Diploma for admission and grants course credit for certain IB areas. Missouri Western accepts the following IB coures for credit.
