- Applicant must be a high school graduate or have received the GED certificate.
- Applicant must be free of physical or mental handicap which would prevent completion of the law enforcement program.
- Applicant must be at least 19 years of age to attend the academy, and 21 years of age for a certificate to be awarded and to be employed by a law enforcement agency.
- Applicant must be free from serious misdemeanor or felony convictions.
If applying for college credit, ACT requirements apply.
The Department of Admissions' Committee reviews all applicants on file. Approved applicants are admitted without discrimination due to age, creed, ethnic origin, marital status, or sex.
Problems that will keep students out of the academy include: a bad driving record, a conviction of any felony or crime of moral turpitude, or low academic assessment scores.
Individual interviews of all applicants will be conducted prior to admittance.
