ETS® Proficiency Profile

IMPORTANT GRADUATION INFORMATION

Don’t confuse the ETS® Proficiency Profile with your department Major Field Test.
You may be required to take both.

The ETS® Proficiency Profile (ETS®PP) is an online exam that assesses student learning in the areas of critical thinking, reading, writing and mathematics. The ETS® Proficiency Profile is designed for colleges and universities to assess general education outcomes and inform teaching and learning. Your scores will be compared to scores of other graduates across the nation. The success of Missouri Western students on the ETS® PP influences the perceptions others have regarding the quality of Missouri Western programs and therefore the value of your degree.

When do I take the ETS® PP?

You will be sent an email with registration information once you have earned 90 credit hours and if you are working towards a bachelor’s degree. The exam must be completed prior to graduation.

How will I be notified to take the ETS® PP?

Check your Missouri Western email. Notification will be sent via email from MWSUGraduationInfo@missouriwestern.edu the first week of the Spring and Fall semesters. A link to register for the exam is in the email. Please register as soon as you can as available time slots fill quickly. No walk-in registration is permitted.

What about taking the exam remotely?

Students preferring the option of remote proctoring will click the “Remote Proctoring requested” choice on the registration site. There is a cost of $20.50. After you register for remote proctoring, you will receive an email with directions for taking the exam remotely.

What are the costs of taking the ETS® PP?

Approximately 12 exams are offered free of charge during each of the Spring and Fall semesters. If you fail to register for one of these times, special testing times are provided at a cost of $85 per person or remote proctoring is available at a cost of $20.50.

What should I expect when I arrive?

Arrive early! Late arrivals will NOT be permitted to take the exam. You will present your Missouri Western ID and sign-in to take the exam. A personal profile will be completed online. Allow 90 minutes for the test and expect to stay the entire time. You will be excused at the end of the testing time.

What do I need to bring with me?

Bring your MWSU ID, a pencil or pen, and a 4-function non-graphing calculator. You may not use the calculator on your phone or computer.

How am I notified of my score?

Your score will automatically display to you after you completion of the exam. You will have the opportunity to print your score after all students have completed the exam.

If you are unable to attend your designated testing session or have questions,
