Information will be emailed to graduates in late March, so please make sure you check your Missouri Western email account.
Undergraduates do not order their own cap and gown. These are pre-ordered for you and picked up in the Barnes and Noble Bookstore April 8 – May 8. The bookstore is in Blum and open 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Thursday and 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. Candidates for certificates and degrees must wear robes without added adornment such as markings on mortar boards, beads or flowers. More regalia information can be found on the traditions page.
Degree candidates who will graduate with overall university honors wear stoles, which will be distributed during line-up information on May 9. Honor graduates are identified in the commencement program. More information can be found on the traditions page.
The graduates, led by marshals, will march to the center aisle and remain standing. Faculty will then proceed to their seating areas and remain standing as the Platform Party processes to the platform. Men will remove their hats. All will remain standing until after the singing of the National Anthem, then be seated.
After the singing of the Alma Mater and the close of the ceremony, the Platform Party will lead the recessional, followed by faculty and then students. All guests are asked to remain seated until the graduates have processed out of the Looney Fieldhouse.
All graduates, along with their families and friends, are invited to attend a reception hosted by the MWSU Alumni Association.
