About the Play

In 1861, the Civil War had just begun to rip the county apart, but in Verona, Missouri, two households, both alike in dignity, had been fighting this battle for many years. In the midst of it all, a pair of star-crossed lovers found one another against all odds and defied their families to be together forever. Divided by a river and a way of life, the stage is set for William Shakespeare’s tale of bitter hatred, division, and true love.
