How do I purchase tickets?

We believe in opportunity and the rule of comedy is three, so why not three opportunities to buy tickets? Here they are.

1. ONLINE anytime when made available by using the BUY TICKETS button on the top of the Theatre and Cinema home page. Most events are reserved seating and you will see a live interactive seating chart where you can
PICK YOUR OWN SEATS ONLINE! For general admission events, you will simply select the number of tickets you wish to purchase.

2. BY PHONE at 816-271-4452 during box office hours.

3. IN PERSON at the University Box Office, hours posted here. We are located on West Campus in the Potter Hall Theatre in the main entrance lobby. We accept cash and all major credit cards. We no longer accept personal checks.

ON PERFORMANCE NIGHTS at the University Box Office which opens one hour before curtain time for ticket sales and will call pick-up for that event only.

Please note: All tickets purchased within 10 days of the performance date will be held in Will Call. All tickets with a student or employee discount may be held in Will Call for verification. We do not accept ticket orders or reservations via email. Service charges may apply on orders.

How do I purchase accessible seats?

Accessible seating may be purchased via any of the above methods - online/phone/window. Accessible seating is based on availability at time of purchase and are subject to the same limits or rules of a performance.

In accordance with ADA policy, by selecting these seats you acknowledge that you have accessibility needs or are accompanying one who has accessibility needs. If you purchase these tickets in error, please contact the Box Office at 816-271-4452 for an exchange. A ticket holder may be denied entry to, or removed from, the accessible seating area if he or she is not disabled or the legitimate companion. If this occurs, the venue shall have no obligation to provide alternate seating. If the Box Office believes, in its sole discretion, that your order violates or may violate this policy, the Theatre Box Office may cancel your order without notice.

RESERVED SEATING: Accessible and companion seating online for reserved seated shows is marked. Companion seating is located within the same row or immediately adjacent to the accessible seats. To find specific details about these seats, move your mouse over the seats to distinguish between removable seating and companion seating.

GENERAL ADMISSION (OPEN SEATING): Please select the correct number of tickets for your party. If you purchase online, you may send a request for accommodation of a seat, to tickets@missouriwestern.edu or call 816-271-4452 and ask to speak with a supervisor for assistance. To better serve your needs, please contact the Box Office in advance of your arrival. Information about general campus accessibility is available by visiting our Maps, Directions and Parking page.

Can I reserve tickets without paying for them?

No. We cannot reserve or hold tickets without payment for any length of time. You may purchase tickets using any of the methods described above. If you have questions, please call the Theatre Box Office.

What are these service charges that you speaketh of?

We don't like fees any more than you do. We only pass on the charge that we receive from the ticketing agent and credit card companies. We are in no way using it for a Starbucks run. Below are our fees which are always subject to change depending on date and show.

Single tickets purchased through the website and via telephone are assessed a $2.00 per ticket processing fee. This processing fee is waived if tickets are ordered via a season subscription or at the Potter Hall Box Office window. You also have the option to have your tickets mailed to you at a service charge of $2.00 per order.

"Tickets by Mail" will only be available up to 10 days prior to the performance date.

Additional Fees may apply.

What is Will Call?

'Will Call' refers to the box office window that holds tickets that have been purchased by phone or internet but have not yet been picked up. We are fairly sure it was invented by a man who had the first name "Will.” We have our sources. Call Will if you don't believe us.

If you have purchased tickets to be held at Will Call, you may retrieve one of two ways:

1. At the Theatre Box Office (Main Entrance, Potter Hall) during regular business hours

2. At the performance venue beginning one hour prior to event time unless otherwise noted

Please note: All tickets purchased within 10 days of the performance date will be held in Will Call. All tickets with a student or employee discount may be held in Will Call for verification.

What should I do if my tickets have not arrived on time?

Don't stress out or raise your blood pressure, these things do happen. Please call 816-271-4452 during our box office hours or email tickets@missouriwestern.edu to request that your tickets be reprinted.

Please note: Student/Employee tickets will not be mailed. All tickets purchased at a Student or Employee discount are automatically held at Will Call for ID verification at the Box Office window.

What happens if my husband loses our tickets?

This could happen to anyone and we don't want this to end in divorce. Please call 816-271-4452 during our box office hours or email tickets@missouriwestern.edu to request that your tickets be reprinted.

I can't use my tickets. What are my options?

Giving them to your neighbor, selling them on ebay or exchanging. The University Box Office has a strict NO REFUND policy. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

If the performance you have purchased has more than one performance night, you may exchange your tickets to the same show on a different night. Exchanges are not permitted between two different performing groups or events.

Can I exchange these tickets?

We gladly exchange subscription tickets or individual tickets to a different performance of the same play, but there are no refunds. Some ticket upgrades may involve an additional cost. To make an exchange, return tickets to the Potter Hall Box Office by mail or in person no less than 24 hours prior to the date printed on your current ticket. All ticket exchanges will be charged a $2 per ticket exchange fee.

PROMOTIONAL OFFERS: No ticket refunds or exchanges on promotional offers.

How do I choose my seats online?

Reserving seats online is part of the patron experience but not yet in 3D. We want you to be able to sit in your home, office or on a mobile device in a cornfield and be able to purchase and reserve your seats. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just click on the TICKETS button and you are off to the races and the ticketing agent will help you through it. You can then print your tickets at home, have them mailed or have them waiting for you at Will Call.

Please Note: We hope to be 3D by the year 2020... just after 4D comes out.

Can I print my tickets at home?

Yes. Just make sure you have ink as we don't supply you with that.

How far in advance should I plan to arrive for a show?

Unless otherwise noted, the University Theatre Box Office will open for sales and Will Call beginning one hour prior to show time, and theater doors open for seating approximately 30 minutes before show time (varies by show). Planning to arrive for parking one hour prior to the show's scheduled curtain time is often a good rule-of-thumb for those who plan to purchase or pick up tickets at the door.

How in the world am I going to get to Potter Theatre?

Don't sweat it, directions can be found here. We recommend in the lines and on the pavement and parking information can be found here. Parking indoors is strictly prohibited.

What is the late seating policy?

Late seating is at the discretion of the House Manager for each performance in accordance with the wishes of the performing companies. Once a performance has begun late seating may be limited to specific points in the performance, sometimes as late as intermission. Please arrive early and plan your visit to accommodate parking and walking to the venue. We recommend arriving on campus thirty minutes prior to curtain.

Please be respectful of all late seating policies for everyone's safety and enjoyment of the performance. Ushers will help you to your seats at the appropriate time in the performance.

Can I bring food and beverages into the performing spaces?

No food or drink is allowed in the Potter Theatre, even if it is purchased during intermission. If you arrive with food or drink in hand you will be asked to throw it away or leave it in the lobby area. We know sometimes that you may get parched, so we do allow bottled water into the Theatre. Just make sure you have a cap on it.

How do I find a full listing of events for Theatre and Cinema Department?

Wanting to know more and to see more events at Missouri Western is wonderful. We encourage it and recommend it! To find out more, click here.

Discounts will be offered online when possible. If you have added all of your desired shows to your basket and do not see the discount applied, please call the University Box Office at 816-271-4452 before completing your order for assistance with your special pricing.

Please note: Student and Employee discounted tickets cannot be mailed and will be held at Will Call for ID verification.
