Programs

Greek Leadership Academy
The Greek Leadership Academy is a weekend long retreat held exclusively for the top leaders of Western's Greek Community. Facilitated by the Greek Councils (IFC, PA, and NPHC) and the Center for Student Engagement, the retreat is designed to help these leaders continue to develop and improve their chapters, in addition to planning ways to strengthen the Greek community as a whole. Many different facilitators have participated in this retreat, along with many different students, making it a very valuable experience for Greek leaders.

Leadership Lexicon
The Leadership Lexicon is a leadership conference held on campus to help foster and develop the leadership skills of all kinds of students: beginner to advanced, and Greek to non-traditional. Faculty, staff, and students from Missouri Western, as well as visitors, present various presentations to Western students. Students are able to interact with other student leaders and learn valuable skills to effectively lead, as well as basic skills, such as how to make room reservations, order food, and plan an effective program.

Emerging Leaders Program
The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a personal exploration and leadership development held in the Fall semester for MWSU freshmen. ELP focuses on the information and skills necessary for effective leadership as well as educating participants about the various leadership opportunities in the MWSU community.

Presidents Leadership Council
The council, made of the presidents of all clubs and organizations is convened monthly for breakfast meeting hosted by the Associate Dean for Student Development and the Director of Student Engagement. During the meetings leadership issues are discussed, community leaders are invited to facilitate discussions and council members are encouraged to discuss issues student leaders are facing on campus.

Student Leadership Awards
The Student Leadership Awards is a new initiative targeted at recognizing outstanding student leaders on campus. The awards recognize student contributions to the mission and activities of Missouri Western State University. Students are nominated by faculty and staff throughout the university and are selected by a campus committee. The awards will be presented at a program hosted by the University President held in April. The award recipients and their family members will be invited to attend.
