 Participation in AQIP allows Western to shape the direction of institutional accreditation, to gauge the success of its integration of AQIP into strategic planning implementation, and to demonstrate it meets accreditation standards and expectations.
Western is an active participant in AQIP and appreciates the potential benefits that come from recasting accreditation activities so that they better support the institution’s program for continuous improvement. Western, from the beginning, has intentionally integrated AQIP into its strategic planning process. Each Category in the Systems Portfolio begins with the strategic planning goals and objectives associated with that Category and reports on the progress made. Action Projects have been identified from among institutional priorities and funded from Western’s Strategic Planning Implementation Fund (SPIF). A combination of Action Projects, Western’s AQIP Systems Portfolio, strategic plans The Western Advantage: A Five-Year Strategic Plan 2001-2006 and Building the New American Regional University 2007-2012,and the Annual Progress Report on the Strategic Plan provide evidence of Western’s commitment to quality continuous improvement and help Western to demonstrate it meets accreditation standards and expectations.
The Systems Portfolio effectively supplies Western with a credible, ready-to-use accountability report for its constituencies interested in institutional performance. Western looks forward to its continuing partnership with AQIP and to the opportunity to continue looking at its systems and processes in new and revealing ways. |
