Daily Crime Log
The daily crime log is not a general, catch-all incident log. Its
purpose is for recording alleged criminal incidents that are reported to
the campus police department. For example, if a student reports losing his or
her wallet in the parking lot behind a dorm, it is not a criminal incident, and
there is no requirement to record it in the log. However, if a student reports
that his or her wallet was stolen from the student’s dorm room, this is a
criminal incident and our institution is required to record it in the log.
Specific traffic violations to include, should they be reported, are driving
under the influence (DUI), driving while intoxicated (DWI), hit-and-run (of a
person), and vehicular manslaughter. Violations not considered to be “crimes”
(i.e., citations for moving violations) are not required to be recorded.
This web version of the Daily Crime Log is provided as an
alterative access for viewing of the Daily Crime Log. By requirements of the
Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics
Act, any crimes that must be reported on the Daily Crime Log, must be posted to
the Crime Log within 2 business days. This web version is updated on a regular
basis, but at times may not meet the requirements set by the Clery Act. The
hard copy of the Daily Crime Log is located in the MWSU Police Department office
Blum Union 201, and does meet all of the regulations set by the Clery Act.
