PLWP Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of Writing
The Certificate in the Teaching of Writing is an 18-hour program for teachers wishing to meet professional development requirements as well as for post-master’s candidates specializing in teaching writing. Upon completion of the certificate, participants are ideally suited to fulfill leadership roles in collaborative teaching projects and in professional development offerings related to improving literacy instruction, grades K -16. The courses in the Certificate are taught by National Writing Project Teacher Consultants, and available to teachers at the reduced tuition rate of $75 a credit hour. Master of Applied Science (MAS) in Assessment: Writing Option
School teachers and not-for-profit educators completing the 33-hour degree will be able to fulfill leadership roles in assessment research, collaborative teaching projects, curriculum design, and professional development offerings related to improved literacy instruction. The MAS is an 18-hour Professional Core added to 15 of the 18 hours required for the PLWP Graduate Certificate. Master of Applied Arts (MAA) in Written Communication: Writing Option
Designed for teachers wishing to specialize in examining texts for diverse media—especially web 2.0 technologies—the 34-hour MAA consists of a 22-hour interdisciplinary core of media, organizational communication and data analysis courses, plus a 12-hour option of writing courses, including as many as 12 of the 18 hours required for the PLWP Graduate Certificate.
