This year's annual fall conference sponsored by the Missouri Writing Projects Network (MWPN) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for Missouri teachers, instructional coaches, and building administrators, grades K - 12, focuses on writing and developing arguments via collaborative inquiry. In interactive sessions, participants will frame inquiry in the classroom; re-cast argument as dialogue; consider multiple perspectives; engage multiple kinds of data; create evidence -based claims; study implications/arguments/claims-based date by identifying problems, evaluating options and outcomes, and prposing 'solutions'; and design information for multiple audiences. They will leave with resources, handouts, skills, and a plan to integrate relevant strategies in their teaching.
Registration Fees: $200/person OR $175 per/person for teams of two or more educators. (includes lunch both Thursday and Friday, resource materials, and 15 hours professional development literacy certification). Online registration for the conference will be available after July 1, 2013, through the Missouri University Conference Center.
