Objectives

This webquest was designed in accordance with the following Missouri Communication Arts Show-Me Standards and coordinating Grade Level Expectations (GLEs):


CA1: Speaking and writing standard English.
     o GLE Writing 2B—Use conventions of capitalization in written text.
     o GLE Writing 2D—Use parts of speech correctly in written text.


CA2: Reading and evaluating fiction, poetry, and drama.
     o GLE Reading 1I—Compare, contrast, and analyze connections between:
           - information and relationships in various fiction and non-fiction works.
           - text ideas and the world.
     o GLE Reading 2C—Use details from text to:
           - analyze character, plot, setting, point of view and development of theme.


CA4: Writing formally and informally.
      o GLE Writing 3C—Write multi-paragraph informative texts with:
          - Effective paragraphing
          - Convincing elaboration through specific and relevant details
          - Originality and individual perspective
          - Individual style and voice
          - Complex ideas in a sustained and compelling manner


CA6: Participating in formal and informal presentations and discussions.
      o GLE Listening and Speaking 2A—In discussions and presentations:
           - Incorporate appropriate media or technology
           - Demonstrate poise and self-control.
