“The Art of Poetry”

Vickey Meyer, St. Joseph Central High School, St. Joseph School District and Stacey Meyer, North Nodaway R-VI School. Vickey and Stacey discuss how to link the two creative worlds of art and poetry. Using Susan Goldsmith Wooldridge’s “full moon me” concept from poemcracy participants will start their own project. Both Stacey and Vickey are Prairie Lands Writing Project teacher consultants. You will read student examples, write poetry, peer edit, create artwork, and share your work. Using Susan Wooldridge’s “full moon me” concept from poemcrazy, you will craft poems about yourselves and then use these pieces as a basis for designing and creating visual representations of your personalities using various instruments and media.
