Michele Thomason, St. Joseph
School District and Prairie Lands teacher consultant demonstrates how
cryptography can be used as a successful tool for developing critical
thinking and writing in the middle school classroom.
*Learn how cryptography can be used as a successful tool for developing critical thinking and writing in the middle school classroom. Working in teams, you will practice problem-solving strategies, creative writing, code writing, and role playing as you crack the codes and add to the saga of the “Case of the Missing Egg.” You will leave the workshop with a Mission Folder complete with handouts and suggested activities for adaptation in your own classroom (including some of the creative writings and answers to the codes Michele’s eighth graders created during 2004).
