Piano Pedagogy
PIANO PEDAGOGY LINKS:
General Information | Degrees and Requirements

The Pedagogy concentration provides piano  majors with the requirements necessary to apply for National Certification (NCTM) as a master teacher by the Music Teachers National Association. It also serves to prepare students for a career as an independent studio teacher, and to pursue studies in piano pedagogy at the graduate level. Currently, Missouri Western is the only institution of higher education in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area that offers a pedagogy curriculum in piano at the undergraduate level.

We also offer a certificate in pedagogy through the Western Institute to teachers of piano in the region who complete 15 credits in the concentration program.
