which will take place on this day.
Members of the Wildlife
Society broke up into committees and briefly discussed ideas and what they would
like to accomplish this year.

These letters have not yet
been written, so therefore the signing of cards and letters has been postponed

New Business:
·
The Hunter Education
Instructor course is currently taking place in MDC 103. This training will go
until 2200 hrs tonight and then resume tomorrow night from 1800 hrs – 2200 hrs.
·
The following events will
take place a Squaw Creek NWR. It is the hope of The Wildlife Society that
members will attend these events.

A sign-up sheet was sent
around to determine interest in creating/revamping wood duck boxes. Several
members expressed interest. For this project, dedication is required and The
Wildlife Society will hopefully team up with the Waterfowl Association if this
project is deemed “doable”.
·
Additional sign-up sheets
were sent around to determine interest in the following events/activities:
o
Handguns/Rifle Workshop
o
Brushcutter’s Workshop
o
Squaw Creek Deer Spot
Lighting – typically do four nights, the last week of October and 1st
two weeks of Nov. Dates not set in stone, but usually occur Tuesday and
Thursday.
o
Eagle Days – a
collaborative project with Squaw Creek and MDC that fits into our mission. We
would assist with a duck wing maze and create a mock hunting spread.
o
Community Recruitment –
traveling to regional community colleges to get more people interested in The
Wildlife Society.

Members voted to
participate in the “Share the Harvest” project which involves taking deer from
the meat processor to a food bank in
·
Several members expressed
interest in assisting Rich Cook with the Pheasant’s Forever Hunt. Interested
individuals were supposed to be:
o
Gun savy
o
Hunter savy
o
Experienced
·
The S130/S190 Wildfire
Ecology and Behavior Training will take place on the following dates for
interested individuals:
o
Oct. 17th and 18th,
2009
o
Oct. 24th and 25th,
2009
o
The Refresher Course will
be taking place on Oct. 25th, 2009.

John Powell would like all
individuals who have completed a summer internship to e-mail him with the
details, so that this information can be placed on the website.
·
If planning on attending
the S130/S190 Fire Training course, e-mails should be sent to Dr. Chevalier.
