


What is the Small Business Institute?
SBI is part of the Business & Economics Department at MWSU formed in 1979 to provide business counseling and/or technical assistance to business with 500 employees or less.
How does it work?
Once a request for assistance is accepted, the SBI Director assigns a team of one to four students to the case. All students involved sign a confidentiality agreement before the work begins. A detailed analysis of the clients business, thorough research and a final report are produced in the area of the request.
What are the Advantages?
To Missouri Western it offers a practical training ground for our business students by supplementing academic theory with actual situations in a real business environment.
To the small business owners, it furnishes valuable counseling assistance free of charge.
