Founded in 1921, Phi Alpha Theta is the international history honors society. Its mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. To become a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta at Missouri Western State University, you must:

     1. Be a declared history major or minor

     2. Be a junior or a senior

     3. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

     4. Have a history GPA of 3.1 or higher

     5. Have earned 12 credit hours of history at MWSU

     6. Have earned 6 credit hours of history at the 300 level or higher at MWSU
