Tryouts

Tryouts for the Mystics Dance Team are held in March, and May, this year with 18-20 positions to fill. Tryouts consist of learning a jazz/funk routine, kick routine, and auxiliary work. Judges will also evaluate candidates on splits, toe touches, leaps, and turns. Candidates will be interviewed by the judges at the end of the tryout.

Tryouts will be closed to the public for viewing. There is a waiting area where parents/companions may wait.

Please wear danceable shoes, dance tights (if you have them),

a sports bra, and athletic or soffe shorts ONLY to attend tryouts.

No t-shirts or pants, please.

Jewelry of any kind is not permitted.

Attendees must bring an application with them to the tryouts if they have not already sent one to the Director prior to the tryouts. With this application, please attach a full-length picture of yourself and two teacher or employer recommendations (must be a teacher or employer from the current year). If you plan to send your information ahead of time please contact Kayla Hinton kayjeff@carsoncomm.com and I can then provide an address for mailing.

All Tryouts last 2-3 hours

All tryouts are located in the West Balcony of the Looney Complex (also known as the P.E. Building). To get there, enter the second floor of the building from the front, take the stairs on your immediate left as you come in, and you will walk straight into the West Balcony.

You are only required to attend one tryout.
