STATEMENT OF PURPOSEMeet the need to increase participation with seniors at on-site activities at Phoenix Family. I will interview residents at random from a previous survey that was given by Phoenix Family Service Coordinators (PFSC). The interview will be done to find out what activities out of the top five from the previous survey residents would be most interested in participating in.STATEMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGYIt is important to have participation in on-site activities to prevent isolation. This is important to keep the resident living independent and engaged in their community. It is important to know what seniors want to participate this allows staff to implement these and keep the seniors living independent as long as possible. Residents living at Landmark Towers and Cathedral Square Towers that have participated in the current survey being given by PFSC at each site will be picked at random and interviewed by myself. This will be done to get their opinion on what they want to see as activities at their community.ANTICIPATED RISKS AND BENEFITSI do not see any risk associated with this research. It will all be done on a voluntary basis and participants will be able to withdraw at any point if they no longer wish to participate. The benefits of this are an increase in participation for on-site activities and this will lead to less isolation of residents. I do not foresee any problems. The advantages to participating are having their voice heard and possibly getting the activities they want implemented.SUBJECT SELECTIONI would like to use 25% of the residents that completed the current survey. Participants will be selected at random by their apartment number. They will not be paid for their participation but rather given a ticket for the drawing of a prize to be determined later. By using random selection this will insure all subgroups are included in the interview.CONFIDENTIALITYPrivacy will be protected by not connecting residents to their answers in any way. Resident’s names will only be placed on their ticket for the drawing. The ticket will not be associated with their answers in anyway. Residents will not be identified. |
