STATEMENT OF PURPOSEThe purpose of this study is to determine if student athletes have more academic motivation than non athletes.STATEMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGYA survey will be administered assessing ones academic motivation. Survey's will be directly administered to male and female athletes in season, and male and female non athletes within various majors on campus. Surveys should take no more than 10-15 minutes.ANTICIPATED RISKS AND BENEFITSNo more than minimal risks involved. Students should be aware that we are surveying them on components of their motivation and they may feel down about the effort they have been putting forth. Participants may also feel as though they are going to get in trouble for something they write down on the survey, but our surveys are kept completely anonymous. And if they wish to stop the survey at any time they are capable of doing so.SUBJECT SELECTIONWe wilk survey 40 students overall. Of that 40 we will have 20 total males (10 being athletes, 10 being non athletes), and 20 total females (10 being athletes, 10 being non athletes.)CONFIDENTIALITYEvery student participated will sign an informed consent form and all surveys will be kept anonymous by not asking for their name, but only their gender.PRIMARY SUPPORTING DOCUMENTClick for Word Document |
