STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of our study is to determine whether social physique anxiety would be higher in female collegiate athletes who show off more skin with their uniforms compared to those who show off less skin in their uniforms.

STATEMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

We will survey about 86 collegiate female athletes. 38 of them will come from the volleyball team, the mystics, and the cheer squad. 48 of them will come from the soccer, softball, and basketball teams. The surveys will be given either before or after their practice/workouts. We will use the Social Physique Anxiety Scale (SPAS)as well as a self-made survey made up of approximately 15 questions. We will go to our subjects’ scheduled sport practice/workout times and directly administer the surveys. They will take <10 minutes to complete.
