STATEMENT OF PURPOSEStatement of Purpose: The purpose of this research is to help develop a better understanding of how RTI (Response to Intervention) is impacting student achievement on the MAP standardized test as well as meeting student proficiency. Students are graded on a below basic, basic, proficient, and advanced rubric for both math and communication arts.STATEMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGYStatements of Research Methodology: Data will be collected from many different areas. Response to Intervention data for the cooperating school district will be pulled from software called AIMSweb. This program is used to store weekly intervention progress on students that have fallen into the intervention category. Students that are placed in these groups are not necessarily learning disabled, but are not on grade level based on district benchmark assessments. Students that are learning disabled are also in the intervention groups until recommended for Special Education testing. Data will be collected to see if students that are receiving interventions are truly making adequate progress.ANTICIPATED RISKS AND BENEFITSStatement of Anticipated Risks and Benefits: I anticipate no further risk than would be experienced in everyday life. Benefits would include being able to share results with other educators and modify student interventions based on achievement levels.SUBJECT SELECTIONSubject Selection: I will be analyzing data for approximately 6-10 students. I will not be testing the students at all in fact I will be using data of students who have moved past the elementary level. The data being collected will be from stored data of students in grades 1-5.CONFIDENTIALITYStatement of Confidentiality: Complete confidentiality of all student data will take place in this study. Names of students, schools, and school districts in which the students attend will also be kept coded and confidential. |
