STATEMENT OF PURPOSE This is a continued study into the psychometric properties of the measure. Specifically, the researcher is adding another dimension to the measure, emotions and Christianity, which consists of 12 items. These items will be added to the existing 80 item measure. In addition, the other goal is to collect enough data to perform a factor analysis. STATEMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGY The design of the study is a psychometric analysis using convenience sampling. Interested students will be give two paper and pencil surveys. The first is a demographic survey inquiring about their age, sex, income, semester in school, as well as descriptive indicators regarding their spiritual and religious beliefs and activities (see attached). The second survey is the revised WFM (see attached). The revised measure consists of 92 items in a Likert scale format. The items make up six subscales: What Forgiveness is Not, Women and Christianity, Steps Towards Forgiveness, Battered Women and Christianity, Health and Forgiveness, and Emotions and Christianity. From previous use of the original CWFM anticipated completion time of the surveys is 30 minures. Data will be entered into SPSS for analysis of items to include descriptives, inter-item correlations, normality, and reliability coefficient. To assess for dimensions of the measure, truncated principal components factor analysis with varimax rotation will be utilized to create Eigne and scree results. The revised CWFM items and dimenwions will be evalusted and results submitted for publication. ANTICIPATED RISKS AND BENEFITS The study is a minimal risk study. Risks involved include no more than everyday risks associated with such activities. There will be no immedicate benefit to the participant, but it is anticipated that future Christian women will benefit from the findings. This will occur with future pre and post test randomized design studies. SUBJECT SELECTION Three hundred particpants will initially be recruited for the study. Number of participants may need to be increased in order to meet the threshold to conduct a factor analyis per SPSS requirements. Participants will consist of female Christian students from Missouri Western State University. Participants will self-report as Christians. No financial benefit will occur for the participatns. Participants will be recritued via e-mail, flyers, word of mouth, and class and club announcements as permitted by the University. Please refer to the informed consent. CONFIDENTIALITY Collected data will be housed in the PI's office in a locked file cabinet. Only the PI and the student nurse researchers will have access to the data. Each participant will be assigned a number and this number will be used to devolp[ all data files tin order to protect the identity lof the participants. Extension Request on 08-17-2012 I am requesting an extension to collect data on 300 Christian female students at MWSU. To date I and the students have collected 150 data sets. I also have 4 new students: Emily Moe, Jessica Anthony, Keri Lorbert,and Rebekah Montgomery.So, last semester students are no longer part of the study.
