Constitution
PREAMBLE
We the member of Delta Phi Upsilon Chapter, of Lambda Alpha Epsilon, in order to form and continue more effectively out organization and in keeping with our purpose and ideals, do so ordain and adopt the following Constitution and By-Laws.
CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 1 - NAME
The name of this organization shall be known as Delta Phi Upsilon, Chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association-Lambda Alpha Epsilon.
ARTICLE 2 - PURPOSE
The purpose of the Delta Phi Upsilon Chapter shall be to encourage and promote the purpose and ideals of Lambda Alpha Epsilon on campus, and to function by the Grand Chapter By-Laws and Standing Rules.
ARTICLE 3 - OBJECTIVES
A. Objectives of this chapter shall be:
1. To abide by the objectives of the Grand Chapter as set forth in the Grand Chapter By-Laws.
2. To provide this campus a linkage to professionalism through our educational endeavors and the administration of criminal justice institutions, thus providing encouragement and expansion of our students and a unified voice in matters that concern them in their field of study.
3. To promote unity and fellowship among fellow students of the criminal justice field of study. This could include, but is not limited to; constant, positive representation of Delta Phi Upsilon and ACLA-LAE.
ARTICLE 3 - MEMBERSHIP
A. Membership shall be in accordance with the guidelines set in the Grand Chapter By-Laws.
B. Membership for this collegiate chapter of Lambda Alpha Epsilon shall be composed of persons enrolled on the study of criminal justice her at M.W.S.C. full time or in an area of study directly related to this field, i.e. Lawyer's Assistant Program.
ARTICLE 5 - ORGANIZATION AND GOVERNMENT
Organization and Government of this Chapter shall adhere to the Grand Chapter By-Laws Article VI: Composition of the Association.
A. Officers of the chapter shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant-at-Arms.
B. The above officers shall be known as the chapter executive council.
C. The Chapter President shall have the option to appoint chairmen to committees to oversee the proper implementation of the duties and functions of the committee.
D. Officers failing to meet the duties of their office shall be removed by a vote of the membership and a replacement elected at that time.
ARTICLE 6 - MEETINGS
A. Delta Phi Upsilon meetings shall be held bi-weekly at a predesignated time. The meeting place and time shall be established within ten days after the first days of classes.
B. Attendance shall be taken and recorded by roll call. This shall be the duty of the Secretary. Members who are not in attendance may reply to their absence by way of proxy or a written excuse.
C. Voting shall be done by roll call and recorded accordingly. Absentee votes shall be taken by official written proxy submitted to an executive council member i.e. President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer Sergeant-at-Arms.
D. Announcement of the next meeting shall be announced at the conclusion of the present meeting,
E. Executive council shall meet on a monthly basis where 4/5 of the leadership council are present along with the faculty advisor to discuss the monthly business and evaluate the chapter as a whole.
ARTICLE 7 - AMENDMENTS
A. This Constitution may be amended at any regular meeting, provided notice of such amendment be given to the membership at least 14 days prior to the meeting for their consideration and comment.
B. a two-thirds vote of the total membership of the chapter present at the meeting shall be necessary to amend any section of these By-Laws.
