Worship
During our Thursday meetings we usually have a time of corporate
worship in song, lead by an individual or a band. Most semesters one of
the students steps in to take charge of this ministry and get it
organized. As with the other ministries, we invite anyone who might
want to be involved to join us. If you are interested in talking with
whoever might be overseeing this area of ministry about helping with
these times of worship please let us know via e-mail, phone, or in
person.
(Romans 12 tells us that living our lives as a sacrifice to God is our
acceptable act of worship. Worship, then, has most to do who we are in
our relationship with Jesus and the Father, and not just what songs we
sing to a guitar, piano, organ, accapella, or any other way. Music,
though, is one way through which we can give God glory, praise, and
thanksgiving in a corporate worship setting. Despite music being just a
very small part of the meaning of worship, we still tend to fall into
the rut of referring to our musical worship time as "worship"--so
forgive us, but please know that we must never allow ourselves to be
content with giving God our so-called "worship" in song (i.e. "with our
lips"), while withholding from Him the rest of our existence; our lives,
and our hearts. "But a time is coming and has now come when the true
worshippers will worship God in Spirit and in Truth. For these are the
kind of worshippers the Father seeks." -John 4)
