Welcome to the Psi Xi Chapter

Welcome to the Psi Xi Chapter of Beta Beta Beta. This chapter is at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, and was installed in 1987. Our Chapter faculty advisor is Dr. Melissa Daggett.

The Missouri Western Tri-Beta Chapter and the Missouri Western Biology Club have been merged into one organization. This was done by a vote of the members of both organizations in the spring of 1998.

What is Tri-Beta?
Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society has over 370 chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States. Chapters induct new members and plan and carry out educational, service, and social activities throughout the academic year. The national organization publishes BIOS, a quarterly journal containing undergraduate research papers, articles for undergraduates, and news and information about society activities.

Who can join?
Students are eligible for regular membership who meet the following criteria:

        - declared a major granted through the Biology Department

        - completed two Biology classes beyond BIO105

        - have a comprehensive GPA of 2.5 or above

        - have a GPA in Biology courses of 3.0 or above.

All regular members are lifetime members. Associate membership is open to any undergraduate with an interest in the life sciences. Tri-Beta activities are generally open to both regular and associate members.
