Boyscout Workshops
We have decided on doing Electricity and Indian Lore for the Merit Badge Workshop. The flyer with information is under the "Our Calendar" link above.

Even when we are working, we still manage to have fun. Our major fundraiser during the year is a workshop for boyscouts in different regions and councils. In this workshop, the boyscouts earn two merit badges. We do demonstrations and the boys participate in lab experiments. That may not sound too interesting until you start to think of the countless ways to demonstrate the release of chemical energy. (Truthfully, how many of your ideas resulted in a loud explosion and a ball of fire?)
We may have a second workshop this semester where
we conduct the Composite Materials. It seems like a harder one to do and our
advisor thinks we should conduct it on a smaller scale before we try it with a
large group of scouts.
Justin Tone-Pah-Hote and Preston TonePahHote are both members of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. Justin and Preston will discuss their heritage and their culture with the scouts. Along with this discussion, Preston and Justin will drum, sing, and dance. This is a great opportunity for the scouts to see regalia and speak with Justin and Preston. They have done programs for Heritage Days and Schools and have participated in numerous pow-wows. These programs are wonderful and informative.
