RN-BSN Completion
Missouri Western State University
Department of Nursing & Allied Health

Advance your career! Earn your MWSU BSN at MCC-Penn Valley Campus.

To meet the complex demands of today's health care environment, the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice has recommended at least two-thirds of the basic nurse workforce hold a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing. Aware of the need, RNs are seeking the BSN degree in increasing numbers.

Missouri Western State University and Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley have partnered to provide a BSN degree that will accommodate working nurses' schedules.

Missouri Western's BSN classes are offered once-a-week in a blended class format at the MCC-Penn Valley Health Science Institute, conveniently located at 3444 Broadway in midtown Kansas City.

The Senior Clinical Capstone course provides clinical learning opportunities in community health and leadership, and is individualized to students' learning needs.  Clinical times may vary.

If you have completed an Associate of Arts degree from a nationally accredited RN program, you may enroll in Missouri Western's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the MCC-Penn Valley Campus and graduate in two years.

Graduates will demonstrate standards-based professional practice to:
  • Function as designer, manager, and coordinator of care
  • Assess health of individuals, families and communities
  • Use information and health care technologies
  • Advocate for quality nursing and health care
  • Apply theory and evidence-based knowledge
