Rico McNeela is the Conductor and Music Director of the St. Joseph Symphony in St. Joseph, MO where he is also the Director of Orchestral Activities and teaches violin and viola at Missouri Western State University. He performs in the trio Quelque Chose which specializes in performing works for horn, violin, and piano. He has also taught at The University of Toledo in Toledo, OH, the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville AR, Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington IL, and at Allegheny College in Meadville PA. During summers he teaches and performs at the Luzerne Music Center in Lake Luzerne, NY where he is the Music Director and Conductor for the Junior Session Orchestra and is a member of the violin faculty. He has served on the faculties of the Hot Springs Music Festival, the Arkansas Music Festival, The Canary Islands International Opera Festival, and the Allegheny Summer Music Festival. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of David Cerone. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he studied with Paul Makanowitsky, Eugene Bossart, Steve Errante, and Gustav Meier. He is deeply committed to the education and cultivation of young musicians. He regularly conducts regional and district Honors Orchestras, and presents public school clinics throughout the mid-west.
