Jeff Hinton has been the Director of Bands at Missouri Western State University since 1995 and the coordinator of Instrument Music Studies since 2005. His ensemble responsibilities include directing the Golden Griffon Marching Band, the Missouri Western Symphonic Winds, and the University Concert Band. During his tenure the Golden Griffon Marching Band has performed at numerous marching festivals throughout Missouri and Iowa and the Symphonic Winds have toured the Midwest and presented performances at the Missouri Music Educators Association’s program. He also teaches courses in conducting, marching band techniques and music education.

Mr. Hinton has held previous band directing positions at Fort Hays State University, Truman State University, and public schools in Missouri including Union, Marshall, Wentzville, and Fulton.

He is a very active guest conductor and clinician having conducted numerous honor bands across the country. Mr. Hinton has also served as guest conductor for the St. Joseph Symphony, the Fountain City Brass Band, the Cameron Municipal Band and many other professional ensembles. He has attended and presented at many conducting clinics including the College Band Directors National Association’s conducting symposium in Boulder. Colorado. Mr. Hinton also serves as an adjudicator for marching band, concert band and jazz ensemble festivals and competitions.

Jeff Hinton is an active advocate for music education in our schools and believes that preparing outstanding young musicians to teach, as well as perform, in integral to the welfare of our society. His involvement in education includes serving as an elected Board of Education member for the Riverside School District in Doniphan County, Kansas where he resides with his wife Kayla and his three sons.
