Workforce Development

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Workforce Development. The Institute is a strong proponent of the P-20, Lewis and Clark Initiative and METS initiatives for Missouri. The Institute can assist in these initiatives through the opening of a training laboratory on the Missouri Western State University (MWSU) campus where undergraduate and graduate students alike can learn what it is like to work in a regulated environment. This applied learning aspect will make the University a leader in the region and provide value to employers and employees. The workforce training effort must be part of an integrated effort in conjunction with a program to increase our science and technology training at the most basic level. The IIALS believes strongly in supporting METS efforts that start in the grade schools and continues through MWSU’s degree programs and includes professional development. The IIALS recently approved spending $125,000 to help prepare the Christopher S. "Kit" Bond Science and Technology Incubator for occupancy. The IIALS will occupy 3,000 sq ft of laboratory, office and classroom in the Christopher S. (Kit) Bond Science and Technology Incubator (see below) on the West campus of MWSU.
