Red Rally Friday
The St. Joseph Metro Chamber, City of St. Joseph and Missouri Western State
University will host a Chiefs Camp Red Rally, to welcome the Kansas City Chiefs on its first day of Training
Camp. The entire community is invited to attend this free, fun-filled event. Wear your red and show the Chiefs
St. Joseph is happy to have them back in our city!
The Red Rally will be from
1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Friday, July 29, near the Training Camp entrance on the
Missouri Western campus. Hy-Vee has donated free hot dogs and soda for the first 500 in attendance. Gates
into the actual camp will open at 2:30 p.m. and practice will start at 3:30 p.m.
The Phil Vandel Band will entertain the crowd with its country music from 1:30 to 3:20 p.m. Up, Up
and Away Balloons will make balloon creations for kids and crowd members.
Like last year, a Chiefs Banner Contest also will be a part of the fun. So get creative and create a banner
to bring with you to the rally for a chance to win cash prizes.
Banner Contest:
-
Banner theme: "St. Joseph Welcomes the Chiefs!"
-
Those making banners should avoid using the official NFL Chiefs logo because of NFL licensing rules.
-
The banners will be judged based on creativity and spirit.
-
Banners should have the artist's name on the back, and should be checked in from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
in front of the St. Joseph Community Tent. Judging will be from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Banners will be
displayed at camp's entrance during judging.
-
The winning banner will be announced from the stage at 3 p.m.
-
Non-winning banners can be picked up at 3:15 p.m. to be taken into the stands during practice.
As with all events regarding the Chiefs Training Camp remember that all events are weather permitting;
alcoholic beverages are prohibited except in the food court; no food or drinks may be carried in; and camp is
a non-smoking environment. Parking for training camp visitors is limited to Lot H and will cost $5. All other
parking lots are reserved for Western employees.
