Create/Edit Links
Create a link to any page that exists on the Internet. Links that refer to pages outside a website are referred to as "external" links. An external link can link to any website on the Internet including any part of the Missouri Western website that is not part of an individual site. Links to pages within a site are called "internal" links.
To create a link:
- Locate the text/image to insert the link.
- Click the
icon at the top of the Contribute Toolbar. A drop-down list appears. - Click "Browse to Web Page".
- In the text box labeled "Link Text" type the link.
- (NOTE: To add a link to existing text, highlight the text and follow steps 2 and 3 above.)
- In the text box labeled "Web address (URL)" there are 2 options:
- Type the web address in the box. Include every part of the address including "http://".
- Click "Browse", and browse for the site as if using an Internet Browser. Click "OK" when the page is displayed
- Click "OK" and the link is created.
- Click "Publish" to finish editing.
To edit a link address:
- Find the link to edit.
- Click the "Link" button at the top of the Contribute Toolbar. A drop-down list appears.
- Click on "Browse to Web Page".
- Type a new address or browse to a new page using the same method described above.
- Click "Publish" to finish editing.
To edit link text:
- Find the link to edit.
- Highlight all, or part of the text like to change.
- Type the new text or delete the text as desired.
- Click "Publish" to finish editing.
To remove a link:
- Find the link to remove.
- Highlight all, or part of the text to remove the link.
- Click the right mouse button while the pointer is on the highlighted text.
- Select "Remove Link".
- Click on "Publish" to finish editing.
