What types of internship opportunities are available?
All HIT students complete professional practice experiences at area health care settings. Recent graduates have worked in doctors’ offices and hospitals in St. Joseph and the Kansas City area.

Why are internship programs important to the program?
Experience in the field is beneficial to each student’s education. Internships provide students with a valuable hands-on experience that is difficult to duplicate in the classroom.

Do students attend conferences in the field?
HIT students attended the Missouri Health Information Management Association annual meeting in Osage Beach, Mo. in 2004, Springfield, Mo,2005, St. Charles, MO, 2006 and 2007,and Osage Beach in 2009.
