Missouri Western State University offers Western students and qualified high school students the opportunity to work as part of a research team during an 8 week program for the 2011 summer session as part of Western's annual Summer Research Institute (SRI). SRI is designed to bring students and faculty together to engage in meaningful and significant scholarly research. This is a unique opportunity for area high school students who are interested in engaging in research activities while they are still in high school.
From summer 2010, there were 11 SRI research teams in the areas of biology, business,
communication studies, criminal justice, engineering technology, mathematics, psychology, and music. Each team consisted of at least one faculty team member, one Missouri Western student and, if desired, one or more high school students at least 17 years of age.
The SRI always coincides with Western’s summer academic schedule.
Each team will present the results of their projects at a poster session scheduled for Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Noon - 2:00 p.m. in Blum Union, Rooms 218-219.
