The Beavers Heavy Construction Scholarship

Missouri Western Foundation

The Beavers Heavy Construction Scholarship was established by the Trustees of the Beavers Charitable Trust. Preference for the scholarship will be given to an upper-classman or graduate student majoring in engineering technology who has a professional goal of achieving a career in the heavy construction industry.

The Coleman Industrial Construction/Diane and Don Coleman Construction Management Scholarship

Deadline: March 1st

Missouri Western Foundation

The Coleman Industrial Construction/Diane and Don Coleman Construction Management Scholarship was established by Don and Diane Coleman and Colemen Industrial Construction to encourage the entry of qualified students into careers in construction management.  This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time junior or senior student majoring in Construction Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Construction Management. Preference will be given to applicants with a desire to become a Construction Project Manager. Preference will also be given to those applicants with travel experience. Financial need shall be the determining factor.  A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA is required.

Joseph J. Droher Memorial Scholarship-Engineering

Missouri Western Foundation

Two scholarships, 1 Engineering and 1 Theatre, will be awarded yearly to students in those majors having a GPA of at least 3.0.

Midwest Apex Project (MAP) Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

National Science Foundation S-STEM Program Grant

This scholarship is designed to provide significant funding (a total of 8 awards will be made averaging $5600 and renewable for up to 4 years) to students intending to pursue or currently pursuing a bachelors degree offered through the Department of Biology, Chemistry (with the exception of medical technology), Computer Science Mathematics and Physics, or Engineering Technology and demonstrating financial need.  Freshman applications must have an ACT composite ≥ 23; and returning student applicants must have a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0, and have taken MAT 116, 119, or 130 and received a grade of B or better. All applicants must have taken, or commit to enroll in one of the following courses during their first semester as a MAP scholar:  BIO 105, BIO 106, CHE 111, CSC 184, EGT 205, MAT 147, or MAT 167; and are required to complete the FAFSA and submit the following components:  1)  A description of their professional goals and interests; 2)  A letter of recommendation from a former teacher or college faculty member. Award finalists will be asked to engage in a personal interview with MAP selection committee members. Applicants must be full time students and US citizens or permanent residents.

Midwest Apex Project (MAP) Incentive Award

Deadline:  March 1st

A total of 17 awards of $600 each will be made to students intending to pursue or currently pursuing a bachelors degree offered through the Department of Biology, Chemistry (with the exception of medical technology), Computer Science Mathematics and Physics, or Engineering Technology and demonstrating financial need, and enrolling in MAT 116, MAT 119, or MAT 130 in the Fall semester.  Freshman applications must have an ACT composite ≥ 23.  Returning student applicants must have a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0.  All applicants are required to complete the FAFSA and submit a letter of recommendation from a former teacher or college faculty member.  Applicants must be full time students and US citizens or permanent residents.  MAP Incentive Awardees successfully completing the course with a grade of A or B and maintaining an overall GPA ≥ 3.0 will be encouraged to apply for a MAP Scholarship for the following academic year.

Mr. and Mrs. Clark C. Glaze Scholarship-Engineering

Deadline: March 1st

Missouri Western Foundation

A scholarship fund has been established by Mr. and Mrs. Clark C. Glaze, the interest from which is to be available as a scholarship.  If used by a student in a pre-medical course, the scholarship is to be known as the Emily B. Glaze Scholarship.  If used by a student in pre-engineering, the scholarship will be known as the Clark C. Glaze Scholarship.

Richard L. Sawyers Engineering Loan                    

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

To provide student loans for needy and deserving junior and senior engineering students who need help finishing their degree.  With the understanding that grade point averages do not necessarily show a true indication of academic ability or potential success, the loans will be made only to those students with grade point averages under 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

St. Joseph Construction Association Scholarship

Deadline: March 1st

Private Donor

A scholarship fund has been established by the St. Joseph Construction Association. Scholarships amounting to $1000 a year will be awarded to qualified students at Missouri Western State University. The scholarships will be $250 each for two students per semester for a total of $500 annually per qualified recipient. Qualifications are as follows: must be a sophomore, junior or senior at MWSU; must carry a minimum grade point average of 2.75 overall; must declare their major to be engineering technology, construction engineering technology, the engineering transfer program or the architecture transfer program; they may declare their major to be business or economics with a construction management minor; must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 hours of classes which are construction related courses and 12 hours minimum overall (in the case of a construction management minor, the student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours of construction related classes and 12 hours minimum overall). The term "construction related courses" means courses from the curriculum for their major or minor which the Department of Engineering Technology offers.  Must not have received this scholarship for more than five previous semesters.

Western Excellence Awards

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

These scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to students who qualify according to departmental guidelines.  Students must declare a major in the Department of Engineering Technology and enroll in at least EGT100, or EGT205, or CET105, or MET100.  Students must have earned a minimum ACT of 22, or a cumulative GPA of 3.00, or be in the top 10% of his/her high school class.

Zach Prescher Engineering Scholarship

Missouri Western Foundation Aid Program

Ralph and Olenka Prescher and Commerce Bank have established the Zachary (Zach) Prescher Engineering Scholarship in memory of Zach Prescher, who was killed in an ultralight aircraft accident September 18, 2005. Zach, an electronic engineering and math major at Missouri Western, was a member of the Missouri Air National Guard and had served in support of operation Iraqi Freedom. A scholarship of at least $1,000 will be awarded each year to full-time engineering technology major who has a GPA of at least 2.5. Two reference letters are required (Chair and faculty member in the Department of Engineering Technology or High School instructor and Counselor if incoming freshman). Financial need shall be the determining factor among qualified candidates.
