A.B. DeMuth Business Award Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Foundation

The A.B. DeMuth Business Award Scholarship is available to full-time sophomore, junior, or senior declared Business majors who graduated from high schools in Buchanan, Andrew, and Holt Counties. Qualified applicants must demonstrate financial need and possess a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50.

Application Procedures:  Complete the General Scholarship Application requirements and submit three letters of references (including faculty advisor) using the online reference request process.

A.B. DeMuth Business Award Scholarship in Honor of Lyman M. Fulkerson

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Foundation

The A.B. DeMuth Business Award, in honor of Lyman M. Fulkerson is available to full-time sophomore, junior, or senior declared Business majors who graduated from high schools in Buchanan, Andrew, and Holt Counties. Qualified applicants must demonstrate financial need and possess a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

Business majors who have accumulated 75 hours, 21 of which are in business, with at least 12 of the 21 hours completed at Missouri Western, and who have a minimum GPA of 3.0, with a 3.5 GPA in business courses, are eligible to apply for this $300-a-year scholarship.

Business Department Junior Awards

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

Scholarships are awarded to a top Junior student in each of the Business Department disciplines.  Criteria for the award include outstanding academic achievement and involvement in the Business Department.

Clifton, Gunderson & Co. Accounting Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

This scholarship will be awarded to a Junior or Senior Accounting major who is a U.S. 
citizen involved in campus and community activities.  Recipient must have a 3.0 GPA overall and a 3.0 GPA in accounting courses.

Financial Executives Institute Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

Candidate must have completed junior year, be a full-time student, and have declared a major in accounting or finance.  Academic achievement, faculty recommendations, and participation in outside activities will be the primary considerations for selection.  $1000 scholarship.

Flossie Neff-Owens Trust Scholarship - Optimist Club of St. Joseph

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Foundation

Awarded to a student from Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, DeKalb or Platte counties.  The applicant must be an incoming junior or incoming senior business major with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. This scholarship is valued at $2,000 paid at $1,000 per semester. Scholarship will be awarded based on academic performance and involvement in community service. Financial need will be a consideration if all other criteria are equal. Scholarship is renewable once if all requirements are maintained.

Herbert C. Iffert Business Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

This endowment was created by Herbert C. Iffert, a graduate of the St. Joseph Junior College and the University of Kansas.  He retired from St. Joseph Light & Power Co. as Vice President of Finance with an excess of 40 years of service.  The applicant must have at least 60 hours, maintain a GPA of 3.0 and major in business.  Preference will be given to accounting majors.  Financial need should become a consideration if all other criteria are equal.  Involvement in campus and community activities should also be considered.  The recipient will be selected by a Business Department Scholarship Committee.

Herbert E. Owens Agriculture-Business Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

For Agriculture-Business majors who will have accumulated 60 hours by the end of the spring semester and who have a GPA of 3.00.  This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the donor.

HTA Solutions (Lori England) Accounting Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

The HTA Solutions Scholarship is provided to students majoring in Accounting with a minimum GPA of 3.5.  The scholarship is renewable if the recipient maintains a 3.5 GPA.  Two letters of reference are required and financial need will be a consideration.

Institute of Management Accountants, Pony Express Chapter

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

Only accounting majors who are also Student Members of the Institute of Management Accountants may apply for the three scholarships—1st place $250, 2nd place $150 and 3rd place $100.  GPA and leadership potential are criteria considered.

James E. McCarthy Memorial Accounting Scholarship

Missouri Western Foundation

The James E. McCarthy Memorial Accounting Scholarship has been established by family and friends in memory of James "Jim" McCarthy. Jim earned his BS in Accounting from Missouri Western, obtained his CPA, taught at Missouri Western, and earned his Masters in Accounting from UMKC. He established a private accounting practice in Gower, Missouri. The scholarship criteria includes: Full time Junior or Senior Accounting major with a minimum GPA of 3.0. All things being equal, consideration will be given to those students with financial need.

John Sublett Logan Business Fellowship Program

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

The John Sublett Logan Business Fellowship Program provides scholarships to senior students who are completing their undergraduate program and intend to pursue graduate degrees in accounting, business, economics or law.  They must have completed a minimum of 90 hours, have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and be accepted by a graduate school.  This scholarship is renewable.

John Sublett Logan Business Undergraduate Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

The John Sublett Logan Business Undergraduate Scholarship provides assistance to full-time, junior and senior students who intend to pursue graduate degrees in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Legal Studies.  Applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 hours, have a minimum GPA of 3.20, earned a composite ACT of 23 or above, participate in community service, be a declared major in Business, Legal Studies, Accounting, or Economics, and reside in Buchanan, Platte, Andrew, Clay, or Clinton county in Missouri.

Judith Hausman Textbook Award

Deadline:  March 1st

This award for textbooks will be presented to either a junior or senior accounting major with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.  Recipient may be a full-time or part-time student.

Koenig Family Scholarship in Memory of Sydney Koenig

Deadline:  March 1st

Missouri Western Department Aid Program

This scholarship is awarded to full-time sophomore or junior student athletes majoring in a business field.  First preference, as an athlete, is given to football players and first preference in major is Finance, then Economics, then General Business.  Two references are required.  Financial need will be the determining factor when applicants are otherwise qualified.  Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to qualify.

This endowed scholarship is available to freshman students demonstrating need with interest in business or marketing.  Candidates for these awards must be in the top 25% of their high school class and be residents of Buchanan County.

Nelle Blum Scholarship-Business

Established in memory of Nelle Blum, former dean of the St. Joseph Jr. College.  This scholarship is awarded to degree-seeking students in Business or Education who have completed 60 credit hours, have a GPA of 3.0 and have demonstrated financial need.

NW Chapter of Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholarships

Students who have good academic skills, show some financial need, are presently in the junior year and will be a senior the following fall, possess leadership qualities, and are enrolled in a four-year accounting program are eligible for this scholarship, to be presented each spring semester.

Ovid Crouch Memorial Scholarship

Robaska Family Scholarship in Memory of Thomas Patrick Leddy

A $750 Scholarship will be available annually for a full-time (minimum 12 hrs) Accounting or Finance major with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above with financial need.  Two references are required.

Robert Fraser Scholarship

This scholarship is to be awarded to a degree-seeking student with a declared business major, who has a minimum classification of sophomore, is a graduate of a public high school in the greater St. Joseph area, a U.S. citizen, has a cumulative GPA of 2.75 and demonstrated financial need.

Waldren Family Scholarship

Missouri Western Foundation

Deadline:  March 1st

The Waldren Family Scholarship given in memory of Joan Banks-Waldren. Must be a full-time student, preference given to student athlete (preferably a football player) majoring in Business, Accounting or Finance. If no student athletes qualify, then preference shall be given to a student majoring in Business, Accounting or Finance. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and 2.5 to maintain for second semester. Preference also given to student from KC metropolitan area with special preference given to graduates from Hickman Mills or Grandview High Schools. Financial need shall be the determining factor among qualified candidates. Candidate must submit a minimum of 2 references.

William C. Vincent Family Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time, incoming freshmen student. Preference shall be given to graduates of Central High School majoring in business. This scholarship is renewable.

Willis W. Alexander Scholarship

Private Donor

The Foundation offers $3,500 in scholarships each year to Missouri high school seniors through the Willis W. Alexander Scholarship program. The Foundation makes seven $500 scholarship awards to high school seniors who are planning to enroll in a full-time course of study leading to a degree with a major in a field related to banking. One scholarship is awarded in each of MBA's seven regions.

Western Excellence Award - Business

This scholarship is divided between current declared Business majors and one incoming Freshman intending to major in Business.  Current degree seeking applicants are required to have completed a minimum of 45 credit hours and have achieved a minimum GPA of 2.5.
