Statistical Information

The Federal Pell Grant Program provides dollars to needy students that do not need to be repaid. Pell Grants are considered the foundation of federal financial aid, to which aid from other federal and nonfederal sources might be added.

Federal Pell Grants are awarded to full, and part-time, undergraduate students working on their first baccalaureate degree. The Federal Pell Grant range is between $400 and $4,310 per year.

To determine your eligibility, the U.S. Department of Education uses a standard formula to evaluate the financial information provided on your FAFSA.  If you are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, your official award notification from Missouri Western will reflect an estimated award based on full-time enrollment (CED courses are not eligible for Federal Financial Aid).  Missouri Western will lock your enrollment at the end of the add/drop period and adjust your award to reflect your actual enrollment.

  • Full-time enrollment is 12 hours or more
  • 3/4 time is 9-11 hours
  • half-time is 6-8 hours
  • less than half-time is 5 hours or less
