BANNER GOLD
Information Technology Services is currently implementing a new Administration System. The project has been deemed "Banner Gold" Missouri Western has partnered with SCT to implement a new system over a 3 year project span.
SCT Implementation Status Feb 2004
The SCT project has five modules that will be implemented between now and January 2006. The first module to begin implementation is Banner Finance, which involves the Accounting, Purchasing and Business Offices. The timeline for this module is accelerated so that the offices will be able to use the Banner system on July 1, the beginning of the new fiscal year.
In order to complete the conversion to Banner Finance, staff in all three offices will be involved in numerous training sessions. Their first three-day training occurred the last week in January and will occur about every 3 to 4 weeks through July.
Throughout the Banner Finance conversion, staff in these offices may be out of the office or involved in conversion activities. Please allow for extra time for requests submitted to the Accounting, Purchasing and Business offices between now and July 1 as staff may need a longer turn around time to respond to your requests. Rick Gilmore, vice president for financial planning and administration, noted that staff will check voice mails and e-mails regularly when they are in training classes, but they may not be able to respond immediately.
The other four modules will begin over the next few months:
Luminis, a web development and web interface program, had its first session in January. During that session, focus groups and interviews were held to determine the needs for the campus’ internet and intranet environments. Luminis will go live in August 2004.
Banner Student will begin implementation in February and continue with Admissions Office coming online during the fall semester and the registration system online during the Spring Semester 2005.
Banner Financial Aid will begin implementation in March and come online in February 2005.
Banner Human Resources will begin implementation in October 2004 and go live in January 2006.
SCT Project Named
Our campus-wide SCT project regarding a new administration system now has an official name: “Banner GOLD.” The acronym stands for Griffon On-Line Data. There were actually two winners in the Name the Project contest, since “Banner GOLD” is a combination of entries. Amy Headding in the fitness center and Dr. Bob Bergland, in the English, Foreign Language, and Journalism department each won a $25 gift certificate to the Barnes and Noble campus bookstore. Amy’s entry was “Gold Banner,” and Bob entered the acronym GOLD.
